Bangers & Mash

This is a truly heavenly comfort dish. It really does require a good meaty sausage to create a hearty satisfying meal. This is definitely one of our quick go to meals which is sure enough to please all the children. So if you fancy a good sausage dish to cook on these cold winter nights then this dish is sure to satisfy.

The Ingredients:

10 good quality meaty sausages

1 large white onion, sliced

2 cloves garlic,chopped

2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp Dijon mustard

1 tsp dried oregano

Chopped fresh flat leaf parsley

1 tsp cracked salt

2 tsp cracked black pepper

20g unsalted butter

2 tbsp beef gravy granules

400ml chicken stock

Sunflower oil

For the mash

6 large potatoes

50g unsalted butter

Cracked salt

The Make:

Add a tablespoon of sunflower oil to a pan and brown off the sausages. Now set aside the sausages on a plate and add the chopped onion and garlic to the pan along with the Worcestershire sauce, mustard, oregano, parsley, salt, black pepper and butter cook on medium heat for approx 5 mins until slices of onion are soft and translucent. Now transfer the sausages and the onions to an oven dish. Mix chicken stock with beef granules and pour over sausages and onions. Cover with foil and cook in a preheated oven at 160 fan oven for 30-40 minutes. Boil potatoes until cooked through. Add butter and salt and mash until smooth. Plate up a large scoop of mash followed by portion of the rich sausage & onion gravy and garnish with fresh parsley.
